Full Service Moving Company – Packing and Unpacking

Full service moving company is more than just a fancy term—it’s a solution designed for anyone who wants to move without the usual stress, heavy lifting, or time-consuming tasks. Europa Moving and Storage offers these services with professionalism, attention to detail, and personalized care—especially for our clients moving in and out of Toronto and throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

Why Storage Between Moves Is the Best Solution for Temporary Gaps

March 27, 2025 By Rod

Why Storage Between Moves Is the Best Solution for Temporary Gaps

Moving isn’t always as straightforward as going from Point A to Point B. Sometimes, there’s a delay between when you have to leave your current home and when your new one is ready. Whether it’s waiting for a home to close, finishing renovations, or finalizing paperwork, you may find yourself stuck with your belongings and nowhere to put them. That’s where storage between moves becomes a perfect solution.

At Europa Moving and Storage, we provide professional moving services and flexible storage between moves for individuals and families throughout Toronto, Ontario, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Our goal is to help you manage your move without stress—even when there’s a gap between properties.

What Is Storage Between Moves?

Storage between moves refers to keeping your belongings in a secure storage facility for a short period between your move-out date and your move-in date. It’s especially helpful when the timing between leaving one home and entering another doesn’t line up perfectly.

Instead of trying to squeeze everything into a friend’s basement or rush your move, storage between moves offers a safe, convenient, and professional alternative. At Europa Moving and Storage, we’ll even handle the pickup, storage, and final delivery, so you don’t have to lift a finger.

Common Reasons for Needing Storage Between Moves

There are many situations where storage between moves makes life a lot easier:

1. Delayed Closing or Possession Dates

Sometimes your new home isn’t ready when expected. Whether it’s a legal delay or construction running behind, you need somewhere to keep your items in the meantime.

2. Temporary Housing

If you need to stay in a hotel, short-term rental, or with family while waiting to move in, storage between moves ensures your furniture and boxes are safely stored.

3. Downsizing

When moving into a smaller space in Toronto or the GTA, you may need extra time to decide what to keep. Storage gives you the breathing room to make those decisions without pressure.

4. Renovations or Repairs

If the new home isn’t quite move-in ready due to renovations or repairs, keeping your items in storage protects them from dust, damage, or clutter.

Benefits of Using Storage Between Moves

✔️ Reduces Stress and Rushing

Moving under pressure is stressful. With storage between moves, you don’t need to rush into a disorganized move. Take your time and enjoy peace of mind knowing your belongings are secure.

✔️ Keeps Your Belongings Safe

At Europa Moving and Storage, your items are stored in a secure, clean, and temperature-controlled facility in Toronto, Ontario. We use 24/7 surveillance and access control to ensure your valuables are protected.

✔️ Saves Money on Last-Minute Alternatives

Without proper storage, you might resort to expensive or risky solutions like last-minute storage lockers, long-term truck rentals, or even hotel fees due to delays. Using storage between moves from a trusted provider is often more cost-effective.

✔️ Convenient Pickup and Delivery

Our team will handle everything. We’ll pick up your items, store them securely, and deliver them to your new location once you’re ready. No need for multiple trips or renting a truck twice.

Why Choose Europa Moving and Storage?

Europa Moving and Storage is proud to serve the Toronto and GTA community with professional moving and storage services. Here’s why our customers trust us:

  • ✅ Full-Service Solutions – We handle packing, moving, and storage all under one roof.
  • ✅ Flexible Terms – Whether you need storage for a few days or a few months, we have short- and long-term options available.
  • ✅ Secure and Temperature-Controlled Facilities – Your items are kept in perfect condition no matter the season.
  • ✅ Experienced Team – Our crew is trained to handle your move with care and professionalism.
  • ✅ Toronto-Based Services – As a local business, we understand the specific needs of people moving in and out of homes across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area.

Tips for Using Storage Between Moves Effectively

If you’re planning to use storage between moves, here are a few simple tips to make the process even smoother:

✅ Label Everything Clearly

When you’re packing for storage, label your boxes by room and include a list of contents. This makes unpacking easier and helps you find anything you might need in the meantime.

✅ Pack Smart

Use sturdy boxes, quality tape, and proper padding for fragile items. Avoid overfilling boxes to prevent damage.

✅ Protect Furniture

Use furniture covers or moving blankets to protect your items from dust or scratches during storage.

✅ Keep Essentials With You

Set aside a “first-night” box with essentials like clothes, toiletries, chargers, and important documents, especially if there’s a gap between moves.

Who Can Benefit from Storage Between Moves?

Storage between moves is not just for homeowners. It’s also great for:

  •  Renters transitioning between leases
  •  Students moving in and out of campus housing
  •  Professionals relocating for work with short-notice timelines
  •  Seniors downsizing or transitioning to assisted living
  •  Families renovating before fully moving in

Whether you’re moving across town or to a nearby city in Ontario, our services at Europa Moving and Storage are designed to make the transition easier for every type of mover.

Final Thoughts on Storage Between Moves

Delays, renovations, and timing gaps are part of life—and they don’t have to complicate your move. With storage between moves, you gain the flexibility to manage your relocation at your own pace. It keeps your belongings secure, reduces stress, and gives you time to get everything just right in your new home.

At Europa Moving and Storage, we specialize in helping residents across Toronto, Ontario, and the GTA experience smoother moves with safe, affordable storage options. From pickup to delivery, we handle it all.

The Importance of Disassembling and Reassembling Large Furniture for Moving

March 17, 2025 By Rod

The Importance of Disassembling and Reassembling Large Furniture for Moving

Moving can be stressful, especially when dealing with heavy, oversized furniture. Whether you’re relocating within Toronto, Ontario, or the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), ensuring that your furniture is moved safely and efficiently is crucial. One of the best ways to make the process easier is by disassembling and reassembling large furniture.

At Europa Moving and Storage, we specialize in professional moving services, including handling bulky furniture. Our experienced team ensures that your furniture is taken apart and reassembled correctly, making your move smooth and stress-free.

Why Disassembling and Reassembling Large Furniture Is Important

Many people assume they can move large furniture as-is, but this can lead to problems such as damage, difficulty maneuvering, and unnecessary delays. Here’s why disassembling and reassembling large furniture is an essential step in the moving process:

1. Prevents Damage to Furniture and Property

Large furniture pieces like beds, wardrobes, sofas, and dining tables can be difficult to maneuver through tight doorways, hallways, and staircases. If not handled properly, they can get scratched, dented, or even broken.

✔ Disassembling furniture reduces the risk of damage by making each piece easier to move.
✔ Smaller components are less likely to hit walls, door frames, or floors.
✔ Furniture remains intact and in perfect condition for reassembly at the new location.

At Europa Moving, we take special care to protect both your furniture and your home during the moving process in Toronto and the GTA.

2. Makes Moving Safer

Moving heavy furniture without disassembling it can pose safety risks. Lifting and carrying large pieces can cause injuries, especially if they are not handled properly.

✔ Disassembling furniture reduces weight and makes it easier to transport.
✔ Professional movers use proper lifting techniques to prevent strain and injury.
✔ Securely wrapping and padding furniture components prevents sharp edges from causing accidents.

By choosing Europa Moving and Storage, you can rest assured that our trained movers will handle everything safely and professionally.

3. Maximizes Space in the Moving Truck

A moving truck has limited space, and efficiently utilizing that space is key to a successful move. Large, bulky furniture takes up unnecessary room and can leave less space for other belongings.

✔ Disassembled furniture can be packed more compactly, allowing for better truck organization.
✔ Proper arrangement prevents furniture from shifting during transit, reducing damage risk.
✔ More items can fit in one truckload, reducing the need for multiple trips.

At Europa Moving, we ensure that your items are efficiently loaded for a smooth move across Toronto, Ontario, and the GTA.

Which Furniture Items Should Be Disassembled for Moving?

Not all furniture needs to be taken apart, but certain large items should always be disassembled before a move. These include:

✔ Bed Frames and Headboards – Large beds, especially king and queen-sized, should be taken apart to fit through doorways.
✔ Dining Tables – Removing legs from tables makes them easier to transport.
✔ Sofas and Sectionals – Oversized sofas and sectionals should be broken down into smaller sections.
✔ Desks and Office Furniture – L-shaped desks or large office setups should be disassembled for easy transport.
✔ Wardrobes and Dressers – Heavy, solid wood furniture should be taken apart to avoid excessive weight and damage.

At Europa Moving and Storage, we assess each piece of furniture and determine the best way to disassemble and transport it efficiently.

How to Properly Disassemble and Reassemble Large Furniture

Professional movers follow a structured process to ensure disassembling and reassembling large furniture is done correctly. Here’s how we handle it at Europa Moving:

Step 1: Take Measurements

Before disassembling anything, we measure the furniture and the doorways, hallways, and staircases to determine if it needs to be taken apart.

Step 2: Gather the Right Tools

Having the right tools makes the process faster and safer. Our movers use:
✔ Screwdrivers and Allen wrenches for removing bolts and screws.
✔ Labeling tape and bags to keep track of small parts.
✔ Protective blankets and wrap to safeguard furniture pieces.

Step 3: Disassemble the Furniture

✔ Remove legs, drawers, or detachable sections.
✔ Keep screws and small parts in labeled bags to prevent losing them.
✔ Wrap each section carefully for transport.

Step 4: Load the Moving Truck Securely

✔ Place heavy furniture at the back of the truck for stability.
✔ Secure pieces with moving straps to prevent shifting.
✔ Use moving blankets to avoid scratches or damage.

Step 5: Reassemble at the New Location

✔ Follow labeled instructions to put everything back together.
✔ Ensure all screws, bolts, and parts are secured properly.
✔ Position furniture exactly where the customer wants it.

At Europa Moving and Storage, we handle the entire process for you, making sure everything is reassembled perfectly in your new home in Toronto or the GTA.

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Moving Large Furniture

❌ Skipping the disassembly step and trying to move large pieces in one piece.
❌ Forgetting to label parts, making reassembly difficult.
❌ Not using the right tools, leading to stripped screws or broken furniture.
❌ Dragging furniture instead of lifting it, which can damage floors.

Avoid these mistakes by hiring professionals like Europa Moving, who have the experience and tools to move your furniture safely and efficiently.

Why Choose Europa Moving and Storage

✔ Expert Furniture Disassembly and Reassembly – We ensure all items are moved safely and put back together properly.
✔ Fully Equipped Moving Team – We use professional tools, blankets, and padding for maximum protection.

How to Move a Pool Table

February 21, 2025 By Rod

How to Move a Pool Table Safely During a Residential Moving

A pool table is one of the heaviest and most challenging pieces of furniture to relocate during a residential move. Its large size, delicate slate surface, and sturdy frame make it essential to follow the right steps to ensure safe transport. Whether you’re moving a pool table within Toronto, Ontario, or across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), careful planning and proper handling will help you avoid damage to both the table and your home.

At Europa Moving and Storage, we specialize in handling heavy and delicate furniture like pool tables, ensuring a stress-free and damage-free relocation.

Step 1: Plan Your Pool Table Move in Advance

A pool table is not just another piece of furniture—it is a complex structure that requires disassembly before transport. Unlike other heavy items, attempting to move it in one piece can lead to serious damage or injury.

Key Considerations Before Moving a Pool Table:

✔ Measure Doorways and Hallways – Ensure that your pool table can be maneuvered safely through your home.
✔ Choose the Best Route – Identify the easiest way to move the disassembled pieces out of your current home and into your new location.
✔ Gather the Right Tools – You’ll need a socket wrench, screwdrivers, a staple remover, moving blankets, and protective padding.

Step 2: Disassemble the Pool Table Before Moving

Trying to move a pool table without taking it apart is not recommended. A standard pool table can weigh between 700 to 1,200 pounds, making it nearly impossible to carry as a single unit. Disassembling it into smaller components makes the move safer and easier.

How to Properly Take Apart a Pool Table:

  1. Remove the Pockets – Use a screwdriver or staple remover to detach the pockets from the table.
  2. Detach the Rails – Unscrew and carefully lift off the side rails.
  3. Take Off the Felt – Gently remove the felt covering. Be careful if you plan to reuse it.
  4. Remove the Slate – This is the heaviest part of the table, often made of solid rock. It requires multiple people or professional movers to lift it safely.
  5. Disassemble the Legs and Frame – Finally, remove the legs and supporting structure.

At Europa Moving and Storage, we have experienced professionals who know exactly how to disassemble, transport, and reassemble your pool table with precision.

Step 3: Protect and Pack Each Component

Once the pool table is disassembled, each part must be properly packed to prevent damage during transport.

Essential Packing Tips:

✔ Wrap the Slate in Moving Blankets – The slate is fragile and prone to cracking, so it should be cushioned and secured.
✔ Use Protective Padding for the Frame and Rails – Cover wooden parts with bubble wrap or thick blankets.
✔ Secure Small Parts in Labeled Bags – Keep screws, bolts, and other small pieces in sealed, labeled plastic bags for easy reassembly.
✔ Store the Felt Separately – If you’re reusing the felt, roll it carefully and store it in a dry, flat container to avoid wrinkles.

Step 4: Transporting the Pool Table to Your New Home

The transportation phase is crucial to ensure that your pool table arrives safely at your new home in Toronto, Ontario, or anywhere across the GTA.

How to Move a Pool Table Safely in a Moving Truck:

✔ Use a Moving Dolly – The slate and frame should be placed on a dolly for easier transport.
✔ Load Heaviest Items First – Place the slate at the back of the truck and secure it against shifting.
✔ Secure All Pieces with Straps – Prevent movement during transit by using heavy-duty straps.
✔ Drive Carefully – Avoid sudden stops or sharp turns that could cause the pool table components to shift.

At Europa Moving and Storage, we use specialized equipment and professional techniques to ensure your pool table is transported safely and securely.

Step 5: Reassembling the Pool Table in Your New Home

Once your pool table has arrived at your new location, reassembling it correctly is just as important as disassembling it.

Steps for Setting Up Your Pool Table Again:

  1. Choose the Right Spot – Ensure your pool table is placed on a level floor with enough space for comfortable gameplay.
  2. Reattach the Frame and Legs – Secure the base structure first.
  3. Install the Slate Carefully – Align the pieces and use a leveling tool to ensure a flat playing surface.
  4. Stretch and Secure the Felt – If reusing the same felt, ensure it is smooth and free of wrinkles before stapling it back in place.
  5. Reattach the Rails and Pockets – Once everything is in place, tighten all screws and bolts securely.

If you need assistance with reassembling your pool table, our experienced movers at Europa Moving and Storage can handle the entire process for you.

Why Hire Professionals to Move a Pool Table?

What to Expect When Moving Out of Self Storage in Winter

February 4, 2025 By Rod

What to Expect When Moving Out of Self Storage in Winter

Moving out of self-storage is already a process that requires careful planning, but when winter weather comes into play, it adds extra challenges. Snow, ice, and freezing temperatures can make handling your belongings more difficult and increase the risk of damage. If you’re moving out of self storage in winter, whether for a local move in Toronto, Ontario, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) or a long-distance move, knowing what to expect can help you prepare.

At Europa Moving and Storage, we specialize in professional moving and storage solutions, helping customers navigate the challenges of moving out of self storage in winter safely and efficiently. Let’s explore the obstacles you may face and how to handle them with ease.

Challenges of Moving Out of Self Storage in Winter

1. Snow and Ice Make Loading Difficult

One of the biggest issues when moving out of self storage in winter is dealing with snow and ice buildup. Self-storage units may not always have fully cleared paths, making it tricky to move large and heavy items.

  • Slippery walkways increase the risk of accidents when carrying furniture or boxes.
  • Snow-covered parking lots can make it difficult to maneuver a moving truck close to your unit.
  • Ice accumulation on storage unit doors can make them harder to open or close properly.

Tip: Before moving day, check with your storage facility to ensure the area around your unit is plowed and salted. Bring extra ice melt and a shovel just in case.

2. Cold Temperatures Can Damage Items

If your storage unit is not temperature-controlled, your belongings may have been exposed to freezing temperatures. Certain items can be affected when exposed to extreme cold for extended periods.

  • Electronics can become damaged due to condensation buildup when moved from cold to warm temperatures too quickly.
  • Wooden furniture may crack or warp due to moisture absorption.
  • Glass and fragile items become more brittle and prone to breakage in freezing temperatures.

Tip: Let temperature-sensitive items slowly adjust to room temperature before plugging in electronics or unwrapping fragile items.

3. Packing and Moving Materials Can Be Affected by the Cold

Even your moving supplies can be affected by winter weather.

  • Cardboard boxes can weaken if they absorb moisture from snow or damp conditions.
  • Packing tape loses adhesion in extremely cold temperatures, making it harder to keep boxes sealed.
  • Plastic bins may become brittle and crack in freezing temperatures.

Tip: Use plastic wrap, waterproof coverings, and heavy-duty moving boxes to prevent moisture damage.

4. Weather Delays in Transportation

If you are moving out of self storage in winter for a long-distance move, you should expect potential travel delays. Snowstorms and icy roads can slow down transportation, and unexpected weather conditions may require schedule adjustments.

  • Highway closures due to snow and ice can impact delivery times.
  • Increased travel time may be needed for large moving trucks navigating winter roads.
  • Extra precautions for safe driving are necessary to avoid accidents.

Tip: Stay flexible with your moving timeline and monitor weather forecasts for potential disruptions.

How to Prepare for Moving Out of Self Storage in Winter

1. Schedule Movers in Advance

Winter is not the busiest moving season, but it’s still important to book your movers early, especially if you’re moving long-distance. Europa Moving and Storage provides professional moving services tailored for winter conditions, ensuring a safe and hassle-free move.

2. Dress for the Weather

When handling heavy items in cold temperatures, proper winter clothing is essential.

  • Wear gloves with grip to prevent slipping while carrying boxes.
  • Use insulated, waterproof boots to keep feet warm and dry.
  • Dress in layers so you can stay warm while working in cold temperatures.

3. Protect Your Belongings from Snow and Moisture

Snow and slush can damage your belongings during loading and unloading. Take precautions by:

  • Covering furniture with moving blankets or waterproof tarps.
  • Placing cardboard or plywood sheets on the ground to prevent moisture transfer.
  • Keeping a dry towel handy to wipe off any snow from items before loading them into the truck.

4. Clear a Safe Pathway

Before starting your move, ensure all paths are clear of snow and ice.

  • Shovel and salt the area around your storage unit for safe access.
  • If using a dolly, check that the wheels are not slipping on icy surfaces.
  • Make sure your vehicle or moving truck has a clear, accessible parking space near your unit.

5. Handle Temperature-Sensitive Items with Care

For delicate items such as electronics, musical instruments, or antiques, extra care is required.

  • Allow electronics to acclimate for several hours before plugging them in.
  • Wrap fragile items in insulated materials to prevent sudden temperature changes.

Packing Tips for Toronto Residential Moves

March 17, 2017 By Tibor

At Europa Movers Toronto, our residential moving services can include full-service packing services and packing supplies, but if you still choose to do most of the packing yourself – below are some useful tips to help you pack your belongings, especially fragile or highly valuable ones to prevent in-transit accidents.

Toronto Packing Tips - Movers Toronto

  1. Add Some Extra Padding – Even short distance moving, to or from Toronto, ON or elsewhere in Canada, has its share of risks, due to bumpy roads and sudden stops. So feel free to add extra padding! Bubble wrap and newspaper are the common favourites, but don’t forget unconventional alternatives, such as sweaters, scarves, blankets and even socks.
  2. Plates and Dishes – If you discover a few broken plates and dishes during your unpacking – it’s usually due to truck vibrations. To prevent that, pack them individually on their sides, just like in a dishwasher! Make sure their edges are securely wrapped with bubble wrap with little room to move around.
  3. Fragile Objects – We mentioned plates and dishes above, but keep in mind that jugs, glasses and the like should be packed separately with their cavities filled. You can use socks for this. Be sure to pack your dishes in large boxes with pillows or blankets to absorb the vibrations.
  4. Lamps – A tricky item, but it might just fit in the drawers in the dresser! Wrap the base in a towel, and disassemble if possible. The furniture might be unstable, and the towels provide great buffering going around tight corners, and the shades can be boxed.
  5. Electronics – Most Toronto residential movers usually advise electronics to be packed in their original boxes – but chances are they’ve been thrown out long ago. You can wrap each component separately, then secure the main items (DVD player etc) with some bubble wrap, set it into the centre of a box walled by a blanket. Add the smaller components on top, wrapped in extra padding.
  6. Mirrors and Paintings – It’s best to get a frame box for any large mirrors or valuable paintings. Most residential moving services will offer them, but be sure to fill the space between the mirror and the box walls. A blanket or sweater is great for this.
  7. Antique Furniture – To protect valuable antique furniture, you can wrap a thick winter blanket around the main body. The material won’t tear during transit, but be sure to wipe surfaces clean first so no small particles can cause damage under the padding. Smaller kitchen towels and sweaters can be used around the legs.

Useful Tips for Conducting a DIY House Inspection

December 9, 2016 By Tibor

Well, hiring a professional house inspector when buying a house is a wise decision, considering the size of one’s investment. Although, it won’t hurt to try and do some of the work yourself. With the correct preparation, you can conduct your own house inspection and make an informed decision on your big purchase. We prepared some useful tips below to help you.

1. Check for any Roof Problems

Roof condition can affect many other parts of the house, and can cause leaks which can be an endless money-pit. Make sure to get up-to-date information on the roof maintenance from the seller in order to make an educated decision.

2. Inspect the Plumbing

You should test all of the taps and faucets, considering water pressure and keeping a sharp eye out for stains on the walls. Often liquid stains on walls mean a leaky pipe, and this can cost you a lot of time and money to repair.

3. Check for Hazards

Ensure that when you walk around a prospective home that you take note of any potential dangers or hazards. Hazards can come in many forms, so make sure to check for any and all kinds. Examples of potential hazards might be: broken branches on old trees, or large single pane windows on the upper levels of the house. These checks are of extra importance, especially if a child will be living in the house.

Check for Rotting Wood

This is an easier part of house inspection by potential buyers as you don’t have to be trained to spot the rotting.

Be aware though that many sellers will freshly coat rotting wood with paint, so make sure to be thorough in your assessment.

Check Mobile / Internet Connectivity

A good way to test the signal in your prospective place is to make calls and visit some of your favourite websites using your phone. If the signal is non existent, and you are a tech-savvy family, it might be worth reconsidering the location of your new home.

These tips are designed to be a starter guide for any house buyers that don’t have the expertise to conduct an official inspection, and can not replace an official house inspection from a trained professional.

Some Additional Costs of Moving a House

November 18, 2016 By Tibor

We have touched on a variety of different challenges associated with moving, but one topic we are yet to discuss is the additional monetary costs that can be associated with a house move. Budgeting for a move can be a challenge for some and the idea of ‘saving up’ to afford to move houses certainly seems like a strange idea, but it can be helpful to avoid some unwanted debt on your moving day.

We never seem to factor these costs into the moving process, so in this post we will truly assess how much money you should have ready when planning a house move. Depending on what type of moving situation you are in, there will be different types of expenses.

1. Consider your transportation costs. Whether you are planning to hire a moving service or load up a van by yourself, you will still need to spend some money on transportation. Well, many moving van rental companies include extra costs depending on how far you are moving, not to mention that you must refill the truck with gas upon its return. Although a moving service will generally cost you more than hiring a moving truck yourself, you can trust that your items will arrive safely and in good time. This way you don’t have to deal with the added stress of planning your move around van availability etc.

2. Destination. Depending on where you are moving to, there may be some extra costs associated with moving houses that are not related to transportation.

For instance, if you will be renting your new place, there will almost always be some kind of security deposit required. And for certain managed apartment buildings there are likely to be extra charges such as move in fees, FOB rentals, parking spot fees and move-in damage deposits.

3. In addition to all the preliminary moving costs above, there might be some secondary costs that you may not have taken into account. For instance, people are often either upsizing or downsizing when houses, so either buying new furniture to fill out certain spaces, or disposing of old furniture that won’t fit in your new space is likely to cost you more money.

Although some people will make the necessary plans for these kinds of extra expenses, most people will not budget effectively to take into account all of these factors.
